The outgoing chairman Barry Eldridge opened the annual [Diggers and Dealers] conference with a plea to governments to stop treating the resources industry as an enemy.
“Get out of the way and let us get on with developing our nation’s resources assets for the benefit of all, through encouraging major investment, creating employment opportunities, developing new technologies and paying income taxes,” he said at the conference.
He spoke of his frustrations and urged a greater focus on productivity through less red tape.
